Bayraktar Shipping Group has marked the signing of its 1,800 TEU container feeder newbuilding programme with China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group – Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard Co., Ltd., during an official signing ceremony held in Hamburg on 2 September 2026.
The programme represents an important step in the Group’s long-term fleet renewal and growth strategy, strengthening its position in the feeder container segment through a new generation of modern, energy-efficient tonnage.
According to Bayraktar Shipping Group, the programme reflects its long-term approach to shipowning, which involves investing through market cycles, continuously improving fleet quality and efficiency, and building assets designed to serve its customers and trading partners for many years to come.
The Group expressed its appreciation to the management and project teams of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group and Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard for their cooperation and commitment throughout the negotiations and project development.
Bayraktar Shipping Group also extended its appreciation to its team and all parties who contributed to reaching what it described as an important milestone.
With the signing ceremony completed in Hamburg, the programme will now progress through steel cutting, construction and sea trials, before the vessels ultimately enter service and trade around the world.
