SpecTec, a global provider of maritime asset management software for shipowners and ship managers, has appointed Joanne Thompson as Head of People.
The appointment comes at a pivotal stage in SpecTec’s growth strategy as the company continues to strengthen its position in the international maritime technology market.
With decades of heritage supporting vessel operations through advanced fleet management and ship management software solutions, SpecTec recognises that sustained growth in the maritime industry requires both technological excellence and strong organisational leadership. Joanne’s appointment reflects a strategic investment in building a scalable, high-performance global workforce.
Strengthening People Strategy to Power Maritime Innovation
As a provider of maritime asset management software used by shipowners and managers worldwide, SpecTec operates in a highly specialised and evolving sector. Regulatory complexity, digital transformation, and increasing operational demands require agile teams and strong leadership across global offices.

Her focus will include leadership development, talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organisational capability – all critical factors as SpecTec continues expanding its global footprint.
By strengthening its people strategy, SpecTec reinforces its commitment to delivering innovative maritime software solutions that support vessel performance, compliance, procurement, maintenance, and operational efficiency across fleets worldwide.

“I’m delighted to be joining SpecTec at such an exciting time in its journey. The company has a strong heritage in the maritime technology space, and I’m looking forward to building on that foundation by continuing to strengthen a culture where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to perform at their best.
This role also represents an exciting opportunity for my own personal growth and learning. With an international remit and the chance to operate within the global maritime industry, I’m looking forward to broadening my perspective, deepening my understanding of a new sector, and growing alongside the business.
My focus will be on ensuring we attract, develop, and retain talented individuals across the organisation, while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment that enables both our people and our customers to succeed. I’m excited to work with colleagues across SpecTec and the wider Omegro group as we continue to grow and evolve together.”

“Technology organisations are often defined by their systems and platforms, yet it is the people behind them who create real impact. Across the global maritime industry, progress depends on the expertise of professionals both ashore and at sea. While advanced maritime software and digital innovation sit at the core of our business, it is our people who deliver measurable value to shipowners and managers worldwide.
Joanne’s appointment as Head of People reflects our commitment to continuing to advance our high performing, globally connected organisation. She brings deep HR leadership experience and a strong track record of aligning people strategy with business performance, strengthening our leadership capability and culture as we sustain long-term growth and customer success.
