Royal Caribbean Group presented to President José Raúl Mulino its interest in building a floating dry dock in Punta Piedra, Puerto Armuelles, Chiriquí province. The 130,000-ton, 400-meter-long project would allow cruise ships and large vessels to be repaired in Panama, avoiding transfers to Asia
The initiative would generate between 500 and 800 jobs and includes a low-carbon industrial platform with international safety and environmental management standards. The president emphasized that the investment would strengthen the country's strategic maritime position and boost the economy of Barú. Its implementation could begin in 2026.
