Maersk, the world’s second-largest container shipping company, has decided to adjust its shipping rates for refrigerated containers from Egyptian ports to various countries around the world, starting from next May.
According to a statement issued by the company, the ports affected by the modifications include: Damietta, Sokhna, Alexandria, Port Said West, Dekheila, and Port Said East.
The company explained that the cost of shipping refrigerated containers from the ports of Damietta, Sokhna, Alexandria, West Port Said and Dekheila has increased from $2,400 to $2,640.
Shipping costs from East Port Said port to various countries around the world have also increased from $3,400 to $3,740.
In a related context, Maersk had previously announced that it was placing financial discipline at the top of its priorities this year, given the decline in shipping rates with the reopening of the Red Sea route.
The company expects its core earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to range between $4.5 billion and $7 billion during the year, compared to $9.53 billion in 2025, and below the average analyst forecast of $5.76 billion.
