The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) has released Advisory Note 006-26, highlighting ongoing blockade activity affecting Iranian ports and warning of elevated security risks across key regional waterways.
The advisory covers the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, and the North Arabian Sea, where JMIC has maintained the regional maritime threat level at CRITICAL due to blockade-related operations.
According to the advisory, vessel owners, operators, and mariners should anticipate increased naval activity, enhanced force protection measures, possible VHF communications from military units, and congestion in anchorage areas and surrounding waters.
JMIC has urged masters and vessel operators to maintain heightened vigilance and consider the following precautionary measures:
- Continuous monitoring of VHF Channel 16.
- Maintaining AIS transmissions in accordance with company policy.
- Clearly demonstrating transit intentions when required.
- Complying with instructions issued by relevant authorities.
- Reporting unusual or suspicious activity to recognized maritime reporting centers.
The advisory also encourages vessels operating in the affected region to remain informed of the latest security updates and maintain close communication with maritime security authorities.
Mariners requiring assistance or wishing to report incidents are advised to contact the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) through established reporting channels.
JMIC stated that it will continue to monitor developments and provide updated guidance as the regional security situation evolves.
