South Korean ocean carrier HMM has issued a customer advisory highlighting potential disruptions to its services due to the deteriorating security environment in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
The carrier cited heightened regional instability and an increasingly volatile maritime security landscape as factors affecting global supply chains and commercial navigation.
HMM indicated that precautionary operational adjustments may be required to safeguard vessels, crew and cargo. As a result, service schedules, routing and transit times could be impacted, with possible delays or cost implications arising from circumstances beyond the company’s control.
The company confirmed it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with relevant authorities, while advancing contingency planning and alternative operational solutions to mitigate disruption. However, it cautioned that specific transit times and the continuity of certain service routes cannot be guaranteed under current conditions.
All actions and services, HMM emphasized, remain subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable bill of lading, including the carrier’s liberties, limitations and exclusions of liability.
The carrier expressed appreciation for customers’ understanding as it navigates the ongoing security challenges in the region.
