HD Hyundai Heavy Industries-Engine and Machinery (HHI-EMD), the world’s largest and most renowned engine builder, has secured a contract to supply Marine 2-stroke LNG dual-fuel ME-GI engines for six new Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) commissioned by Swiss based -Sallaum Lines. The vessels are to be constructed at Chinese shipyards, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co.
This strategic partnership underscores Sallaum Lines' commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Sallaum Lines aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance the eco-friendliness of their fleet. The new ME-GI engines represent the pinnacle of maritime propulsion technology, offering superior efficiency and reduced emissions compared to conventional engines.

Sallaum Lines' decision to select HHI-EMD’s engines followed a rigorous evaluation process focused on sustainability and environmental performance. The LNG dual-fuel ME-GI engines, capable of operating on both LNG and conventional marine fuels, are pivotal in reducing CO2, SOx, and NOx emissions. This aligns with Sallaum Lines' goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050.
