Chalkis Shipyards welcomed on Thursday, 16 July, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. Vassilis Kikilias, during an official visit to the shipyard’s facilities, accompanied by the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, as well as Members of Parliament of Evia, Mr. Simos Kedikoglou and Mr. Thanasis Zebilis.
During the visit, the Minister toured the shipyard’s facilities, met with employees and received a briefing from the Management on the company’s operations, infrastructure and development plans. Representatives of local authorities, regional stakeholders, management and employees also took part in the discussions, highlighting the importance of cooperation in supporting the region’s maritime sector.
Investments and Expansion Plans
The Management presented Chalkis Shipyards’ capabilities, ongoing investments and future prospects for further strengthening ship-repair activities in the region. As part of the briefing, the new larger floating dock currently under development was also presented, a project that will further enhance the shipyard’s operational capacity and its ability to accommodate a wider range of vessels.
Discussions during the visit focused on the shipyard’s development, employment opportunities and its contribution to the local economy, as well as the broader prospects for reinforcing maritime and ship-repair activity in the area.

Chalkis Shipyards expressed its appreciation to the Minister and all participants for their visit and the constructive dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the Greek ship-repair sector and the Greek-owned fleet.
