Drydocks World has ordered a new 5,000-metric ton floating sheerleg crane from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. (ZPMC) to support construction work for large-scale offshore projects.
Design, construction, testing, and commissioning should last around 24 months, with completion scheduled for 2Q 2026.
Drydocks World plans to us the crane's heavy-lifting capabilities for assembling high-voltage offshore converter platforms and FPSO topsides.
The crane’s 160-m long A-frame will enable lifting of heavy loads (up to 5,000 mt) 120 m above the water line: a 600-mt fly jib will be able to extend its reach to 180 m.
That will facilitate installation of larger vessel modules fabricated in the yard and lifted onto the vessel for assembly, both nearshore and offshore.
The crane will be designed to accommodate up to 50 personnel offshore, reducing the need for support vessels. It will also be available for the construction of offshore platforms.
