Admiral Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, stated that navigation through the Canal is proceeding normally and has not been affected by adverse weather conditions. He pointed out that the Suez Canal witnessed the transit of 39 vessels in both directions , Wednesday, with a total net tonnage of 1.6 million tons. This reflects the Authority's capability to manage the waterway under the most challenging weather conditions, supported by advanced navigation monitoring systems and highly qualified and experienced personnel across various maritime fields.
During his follow-up on the regularity of navigation from the Main Traffic Control Center, Admiral Rabiee directed that all necessary precautionary measures and procedures be implemented to address adverse weather conditions. He also emphasized the commitment of all Authority maritime units to the Canal's navigational safety procedures, particularly during Pilot boarding and disembarking operations and routine maritime procedures.
Admiral Rabiee further emphasized that the Crisis Management Committee is operating around the clock to monitor the smooth flow of navigation through the Suez Canal and ensure the readiness of maritime salvage teams. The readiness level of salvage tugboats has been elevated for rapid emergency response. Additionally, preparedness has been heightened across the Authority’s hospitals, medical centers, ambulance services, and firefighting units.
He also instructed maintaining continuous coordination with the operations rooms in the Canal cities to provide necessary support in emergency situations.
Admiral Rabiee also noted the continued provision of passenger crossing services between the Canal’s two banks via ferries, bridges, and tunnels, affiliated to the Authority, in accordance with maritime safety regulations and in full coordination with navigation control offices in the three Canal cities.
