Djibouti and Egypt on Saturday signed three cooperation agreements covering solar energy, port infrastructure, and logistics services, following an official visit to Djibouti by Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir.
The Egyptian delegation held talks with Djibouti’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Hassan Houmed Ibrahim, as well as the Chairman of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority Aboubaker Omar Hadi.
Under the first agreement, the two sides will develop a solar power plant with a capacity of 23 megawatts, equipped with a battery storage system. The project will cover an area of 30 hectares and is intended to supply electricity to the Doraleh Port.
The second agreement focuses on the construction of a new container storage terminal spanning 1,450 meters, a project expected to enhance the attractiveness and operational capacity of Djibouti’s ports.
