Company Security Officer Online Training Course
Background:
The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) is a comprehensive set of measures to enhance the security of ships and port facilities, developed in response to the perceived threats to ships and port facilities.
The ISPS Code is implemented through chapter XI-2 Special measures to enhance maritime security in the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). The Code has two parts, one mandatory and one recommendatory.
Each Ship Management Company shall designate a Company Security Officer (CSO). The CSO course, is mandatory training for those undertaking the duties of a company security officer for all commercial vessels, fishing vessels and ‘super yachts’. The course will cover the reasons for development of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) and its continued use; relevant international conventions, codes and recommendations relating to ship and port facility security.
Course Objectives:
- This course aims to provide knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Company Security Officer (CSO).
- Knowledge of the ISPS Code 2003 Regulations;
- Fulfil the documentation requirements;
- Maintain an effective safety and security system for operations;
- Ability to undertake the duties and responsibilities of Company Security Officer.
